Montana Conservation Corps Launches Summer Youth Expedition Recruitment

Four-week Volunteer Service Experience includes $200 Dollar Service Award

Helena – The Governor’s Office of Community Service (serve.mt.gov) announced that Montana Conservation Corps (mtcorps.org), an AmeriCorps program, is encouraging adventurous teens, aged 15-17 years old, to apply for the ‘Youth Service Expedition’ program, a four-week, summer volunteer experience that combines education, job skills training and fun! Participants will receive a Service Award of $200 dollars upon completion.

2010 Summer Transportation Institute at Montana State University
The Summer Transportation Institute (STI) is an opportunity for Montana high school students to prepare for college and to learn about transportation.  STI participants will live in the dormitories on MSU campus during the two-week program that runs from June 13-25, 2010.  All room and board expenses are covered.  
To apply, submit the following:

2.)   A copy of you school transcript

 



Montana Youth Leadership Forum (MYLF)
MYLF (pronounced “my life”) is a unique career and leadership training program for high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors with disabilities. By serving as delegates from their communities at a 5-day intensive training, youth with disabilities will cultivate leadership, citizenship, and social skills.

Med Start Summer Camp: July 18th -25th
The South Central Montana Area Health Education Center is coordinating a FREE one-week summer camp, Med Start, for high school students interested in healthcare careers!  The camp will take place at MSU-Bozeman from July 18-25, 2010, and is open to Juniors and Seniors in the Fall of 2010.  Thirty students will be accepted statewide.  Acceptance will be influenced by the following criteria:
1.)  potential interest in pursuing a healthcare career
2.)  low income, minority, or economically disadvantaged
3.)  rural or urban underserved area
4.)  first in family to attend college
5.)  letters of recommendation
6.)  student transcripts

Summer Student Learning Camps at the Montana Learning Center are math and science camps that are held throughout the summer at Canyon Ferry. 

There are three different camps available.

MISS MONTANA TEEN USA

The next Miss Montana Teen USA pageant will be held at the MCT Center for Performing Arts on September 4th & 5th, 2010.  Registration for the Pageant is officially open.  For more information and the application, see Mr. Meredith or Mrs. Taylor. 


Schwanke Honors Institute (June 13th-25th)

The University of Montana-Missoula is pleased to sponsor the Schwanke Honors Institute for high school students who will be either juniors or seniors next fall.  The Summer 2010 Institute will take place on the UM campus in Missoula.  Students will live in University residence halls and take courses from outstanding UM faculty members.  Students have the choice of taking one of three courses:
-English 195
-Math 195
-Media Arts 195

Montana Natural Resources Youth Camp (July 11-16)
